Chartreuse was formulated by a monk Brother Antoine which was passed to him by Brother Jerome on his deathbed. Brother Antoine finally developed the Elixir in 1764. Milder and sweeter than the famous Chartreuse Verte, Chartreuse Jaune was introduced to the world in 1838. It also is presented in the traditional Chartreuse liqueur bottle embossed with the seal of La Grande Chartreuse.
